Se trata de una miniserie semanal de 4 partes que viene a rematar el arco argumental que comenzara con "Superman: Brainiac", hace un par de años. Acorde a DC Comics, será una guerra de 100 minutos.

En realidad son 5 parts porque se inicia en el #0 que aparecerá para el Free Comic Book Day, que está escrito por el mismo equipo y dibujado por el ascendente Eddy Barrows, quien también cerrará la serie. Tanto Batman sin Batman como Superman sin Superman se han resentido en su nivel de ventas, pero el caso de Superman es un poco más dramático... este parece ser el inicio del regreso al status quo y probablemente no llega un minuto tarde.

The Mighty Crusaders es el supergrupo de los personajes de Archie Comics que DC ha relanzado con las colecciones de "The Red Circle". Las series han generado escaso interés y de no mediar una fuerte voluntad Editorial, cualquier ingeniero comercial las habría cancelado poco después de su lanzamiento para reducir las pérdidas.

Este parece un intento por darle aire a estas colecciones, pero creo que es un poco tarde. Se trata de personajes que han estado en el limbo por muchos años, que ya habían fracasado en la línea Impact! de inicios de los 90s y que además arrastran como lastre que las dos series principales cuesten 4 dólares debido a la inclusión de co-features, o historias de complemento... escucho los primeros acordes del requiem

Me pregunto si darán vuelta el anillo de la Legion para que quede bien en la impresión final.

Salvo darle un dibujante de peso, DC ha hecho lo que ha podido por relanzar esta serie. Paul Levitz es uno de los escritores de mayor tradición de la colección y responsable de algunas de las historias más memorables del grupo y acorde a DC, Yildiray Cinar será un superestrella en el futuro cercano. Cinar es de Turquía y entiendo que es su primer trabajo en el mercado estadounidense, si no lo es, debe al menos tratarse de la asignación de mayor perfil que haya recibido.

Ojo que viene con una variante de portada de Jim Lee de 1 cada 10 copias, lo que debiera darle un pequeño impulso en ventas a este número 1.

It’s Magog versus The Shield when Killer App takes hold! But why are the Planeteers keeping their distance from Magog as well?

Nunca entendí esta serie. Magog era una alegoría al tipo más despreciable de personajes que poblaron las páginas de los cómics de la década de los 90s (perdón si a ti te gustaban), no se suponía que a nadie le agradara en Kingdom Come.

De alguna manera decidieron que era buena idea integrarlo al DCU a través de una historia de la JSA que tampoco está entre mis favoritas y finalmente lanzan la serie dibujada por un tipo que detesto, Howard Porter (perdón si a ti te gusta su trabajo). En Diciembre la serie vendió poco más de 10.000 copias y bajo estándares antiguos ya la habrían cancelado, seguramente mejorará ahora que le pasaron la serie a Tom Derenick y tiene la aparición de un personaje de la exitosa serie The Shield (sarcasmo)

Si revisan las ventas de Diciembre puede que se engañen. hubo una promoción relacionada con los anillos de Blackest Night que produjo un enorme aumento en ventas para esta serie. Si bien está en problemas por su declive sostenido, el marco de Brightest Day parece el momento adecuado para reflotar la revista a manos de un equipo creativo que en lo personal me agrada bastante.

Bastante más grande que la edición original (6.6" x 10.2"), llega la edición Absolute de una de las mejores historias de Superman... el precio es un poco privativo, pero si disponen de esa cantidad para este tipo de cosas, hay que tener esta revista.

Finalmente aparece el TPB de Final Crisis... nunca concluí la revisión de Final Crisis y debo decir que me decepcionó un poco porque creo que falló en lo esencial, generar interés en el desarrollo de la historia y sus personajes. Si bien FC tuvo momentos impactantes y un desborde de ideas grandilocuentes, fue en la conexión visceral con el lector donde no consiguió el impacto necesario.

Rodrigo, uno de nuestros colaboradores, se preguntaba por la aparición de este tomo cuando publicamos el listado de recopilaciones de DC para el último trimestre de 2010. Bueno, aparecerá algunos meses antes.
